Join the Te Hōnonga a Iwi Incorporated Society!

ree

It’s official – our new constitution has been approved, our Strategy Committee has had its first meeting and membership is open for the new Te Hōnonga a Iwi Incorporated Society.

We would love you to join the society as one of our founding members – membership is free. Simply fill in the form on the Join Us page.

Transitioning from under North Harbour Hockey and, more recently, Upper Waitematā Ecology Network’s umbrellas will enable us to grow, contract support and invest in succession planning to ensure ongoing sustainability and organisational resilience.

The Te Hōnonga a Iwi Incorporated society has five officers – Chair Sheryl Blythen, Iwi Representative Melanie Mayall-Nahi, Secretary Matthew Wardle, Treasurer Jody Gilfillan and Project Co-ordinator Nicky Shave.

The wider Strategy Committee includes those officers, alongside our kaumatua Richard Nahi, Matt Cummings, Stanley Friedlick, Miriam Scott, Elouise Shukerbrown, Komal Singh. Bios will soon be available on our website.

At its inaugural meeting earlier this month, the committee reviewed the Future Fit Roadmap for Te Hōngonga a Iwi, with a view to coming up to speed with how the group can support the operational work being done on the ground at the restoration, community food garden and associated projects.

Chair Sheryl Blythen says bringing the Strategy Committee together was an important milestone for the project.

“There is a phenomenal amount of the collective wisdom, experience and energy in this group and I’m looking forward to building something remarkable together.”
