Get walking to raise money for our project

Our partner Trees That Count is taking part in Bupa’s Healthy Cities Challenge in September and has selected Te Hōnonga a Iwi as one of five projects to be funded through this fun initiative.
The Healthy Cities Challenge is a four-week step challenge where steps taken translate into funding for nature regeneration projects in Aotearoa and Australia. You can learn more here.
So we are asking all our supporters to join the Trees That Count team for the challenge and get walking, starting from Tuesday, 1 September.
How it works:
Each collective 1 billion steps unlocks funding for one project in Aotearoa and one project in Australia, with a collective goal across both countries of 5 billion steps (supporting 10 projects across the two countries in total). Signing up is quick and taking part is easy. All you need to do is get moving.
This year the Challenge is supporting the following NZ-based projects:
Te Hōnonga a Iwi: Restoring Rosedale Park
Shakespear Regional Park Community Planting Programme
Restoring Belmont Regional Park
Avoca and Horotane Valleys Restoration Project
Borck Creek Restoration
Here's how to join:
Enter org code: “ANZBupa”
Select “Trees That Count” from the dropdown menu, then select “Trees That Count” as your team
You'll be prompted to create an account and confirm your email address
Connect your fitness tracker (if you don’t have a smartwatch, you should be able to use your phone’s native health app)
You’ll then be added to the challenge named “2026 Healthy Cities Challenge” and be able to see this in the app alongside your synced steps
Feel free to share with your whānau or anyone you walk/run/workout with regularly, too. The more people involved, the better! And the more likely we are to receive funding we can use for regenerating the Albany Basin.
