The Te Hōnonga a Iwi team has tackled one of the biggest challenges it has faced in its four years at Rosedale Park – clearing the steep, rubbish-infested land in the park’s apex.
The 4,000 square metre site next to ICB Civil Construction proved to be our most difficult clearance to date. Matt Cummings from Untangled Landscapes did the job, with the work funded by Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters department as part of its work to improve the environmental health of Alexandra Stream.
Once the machinery work had finished, a group of Rangitoto College students took away all the inorganic waste dumped on the site so it’s ready for the 2026 planting season.
Between 2,000 and 4,000 native plants will be planted on the site before spring.
